George Charles Beresford: H. G. Wells (1920)

Herbert George Wells
(1866-1946)

Herbert George Wells (1866-1946) is possibly the most influential and widely read SF author in the history of the genre. His works include The Time Machine (1895), The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896), The Invisible Man (1897), The War of the Worlds (1898), and The First Men in the Moon (1901), among many others.

His Collected Stories, first published in 1927, is perhaps the best introduction to his work. Among the 63 stories included there is this one, “The Country of the Blind,” first published in 1904.
